1.2 Description
1.2.1 Abstract:
Author and title of these books: Melbourne Observatory, Monthly Record of
Results of Observations in Meteorology...
Call number: C/if AO15 3147, 5286
Number of books: 2
These books are a part of the foreign meteorological data collection held
by the NOAA Central Library in Washington, DC. Information in this
collection dates back to the 18th century for daily, monthly, seasonal,
and annual tabular summaries, and the 19th century for weather maps.
These data are the result of foreign exchange agreements, but the
collection has not been updated since 1983.
In these summaries, definitions are:
1. Hourly/daily/monthly/seasonal/annual data -- values determined for
each consecutive period, e.g. monthly temperature data: Jan 1900, Feb
1900, etc.
2. Long-term data -- values determined over a period of years, e.g.
long-term monthly temperature data using Jan 1901, Jan 1902, etc.
These books contain tables of magnetic variation, and daily, monthly,
seasonal, and annual surface and subsurface weather for Victoria,
Australia from various periods between 1862 and 1873. Consecutive data
appears from 1873 to 1876.
Tables include the following data collected at twenty-four ground
stations:
- daily mean pressure, temperature, soil temperature, dew point,
relative humidity, prevailing direction of the wind,
cloudiness, and ozone
- daily absolute maximum and minimum temperature
- daily rainfall
- daily absolute maximum solar radiation
- daily absolute minimum terrestrial radiation
- daily wind miles
- daily weather observations
- monthly and seasonal diurnal fluctuations in mean wind velocity
- monthly and seasonal mean vapor pressure, temperature, dew
point, pressure, cloudiness, and relative humidity
